Softball "Advanced Skills" Clinic being offered at College of Southern Maryland

Due to a recent CSM scheduling change, CSM softball had the opportunity to get the CSM gym on Sat Feb 13.  We will be offering two levels of "ADVANCED DEFENSIVE SKILLS" sessions in the morning then a "General Skills" session in the afternoon.  (NOTE: There will be NO hitting, pitching or catcher skills sessions on Feb 13.)  Attached are 2 info handouts for the Feb 13 CSM Softball Clinics.

Based on feedback from past clinics and the feedback from the Jan 16 "Advanced" sessions, we will offer a new "Advanced" session that expands on the skills covered on Jan 16 AND again offer a session with similar skills activities to those covered on Jan 16.   Like the Jan 16 sessions, these will focus on "Advanced Defensive Skills" for EXPERIENCED and SKILLED players.  The "Advanced Skills" morning sessions will NOT be for inexperienced or new-to-softball players.  For the safety of players, the CSM Coaching staff will retain the right to remove any participant (and refund payment) deemed to be at an injury risk in these sessions due to skill level.

8:30 AM to 10:15:  Advanced Defensive Skills - LEVEL 2.   This session will be a "step up" from the skills covered on Jan 16.  It is designed for VERY EXPERIENCED AND SKILLED players.  (Note: Most players from the Jan 16 sessions would benefit from this session.)  Cost $50.

10:30 AM to 12:15: Advanced Defensive Skills - LEVEL 1.  This session will be similar to the skills covered on Jan 16:  high level defense and throwing.  It is designed for EXPERIENCED AND SKILLED players.  (Note: Some players from the Jan 16 sessions might consider this one again.)  Cost $50.

1 PM to 2:30 PM:  "General Skills" session for all skills levels covering hitting, defense, bunting and sliding.  Cost $40.

NOTE:  All sessions will have limited registrations.  The registrations and sessions assigned will be taken in ORDER of the emails received by Bill Hitte. To register, simply email the following info to Bill Hitte, CSM Asst Softball Coach, at

Charles County Youth League

The CCYL is an all-volunteer organization that benefits Charles County youth. It is through the efforts of our coaches, parents, members, and board members that we are able to bring athletics to the youth in our county. Please consider volunteering as a coach, a team parent, giving time to help out at our many events, or as a member of our board.

If you are interested in coaching, please complete an application or contact a commissioner for more information. If you are interested in our board that meets monthly to discuss everything about the league, please come by to a meeting. You can also read through the individual position descriptions and responsibilities in Article IX of the By-Laws of the policy manual, complete and submit your board application (click the Board of Directors tab across the top of this website and then click on application, complete and submit).
