We want to thank you again for your patience. We know times are stressful and unpredictable, and we appreciate your understanding. We held out hope that we would be able to return to some sense of normal and provide our players with a season. We just received an update from Charles County Parks and Recreation that all county fields will remain closed until at least June 15. As much as we wanted to play ball, the health and safety of our players is top priority. Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Spring 2020 season.
As you know, CCYL is a non-profit organization, and one of the largest in the county. Preparation for the spring season takes months of planning, and we incur most of our expenses before players take the field for their first practice. These expenses include our league charter, insurance, uniforms, equipment, SSU Play administrative fees, and facility fees.
We are providing two options, listed below, to players that were registered for the Spring 2020 season, as well as instructions for selection:
If you choose this option, you will receive a dollar for dollar credit to your account for the amount you paid for the Spring 2020 season. This credit can be used towards the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 season.
*If you would like to receive a registration credit, you should do nothing at this time. CCYL will apply the credit to your SSU Play account and it will be available for you to use in either the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 season.
If you choose this option, you will receive a percentage of the dollar amount you paid for the Spring 2020 season.
Players in the following divisions will receive a refund equal to 20% of the amount paid:
Rookie Baseball (8U), Coach Pitch Baseball and Softball, Baseball and Softball T-Ball
Players in the following divisions will receive a refund equal to 25% of the amount paid:
Major Baseball and Softball (12U), Minor Baseball and Softball (10U)
Players in the following divisions will receive a refund equal to 74% of the amount paid:
Babe Ruth Baseball (13-16) and Senior Softball (13-18)
*If you would like a partial refund, you must send an email with your child’s full name and division to email@example.com, no later than Sunday, June 7, 2020.
We will begin to process partial refunds on Monday, June 8. Refunds will not be issued before June 8. We will work as fast as possible, but it could take a few days to one week, depending on the number of families requesting a refund. Please note that it may take a little longer to issue refunds to families who paid by check or cash, as we are not able to process the refund through SSU Play.
Once the stay at home order is lifted, we will set a date to distribute value cards. Each player will receive five cards that can be sold for $10 each.
